It was one phrase, an age old one that made Rebecca Kimishima very curious of the adults around her.

“Put it back.” Riza said to her daughter as she was cooking dinner, her daughter hesitated before dropping the cookie in her hand back onto the plate.

“How’d you know?”

Riza without even thinking about it said to her four year old: “I have eyes on the back of my head.”

There was a small gasp before the sound of little footsteps running to her husband’s study. “DADDY! MOMMY HAS EYES ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD! IT’S LIKE A NEW FACE!”

Riza sighed and if she hadn’t been handling raw chicken she would’ve facepalmed. Because now she could hear her husband cracking up and Rebecca saying as only Rebecca could. “Stop laughing Daddy! This is serious!”

“Becca!” Vincent managed to gasp between laughter. He decided to play along a bit. “All grown ups have eyes on the backs of their heads.”

Her brown eyes got large. “Even Unca Luc’ and Unca Joshy?”

“Even Uncle Lucas and Uncle Joshua.”

“Even Aunt Chrissie and Aunt Lyssa?”

“Yep.”

“Even grandpa and grandma? And Grandpa Gabe and Grandma Lisa?”

“Yep.”

“...COOL!”

After that night...She started poking adults in the back of the head or parting their hair determined to find the ‘eyes’.

Even if that meant sneaking up on Gabe and trying. “Becky...What are you doing?” Gabe asked not even looking up from his newspaper.

“Lookin’ for eyes.” She said with such focus..Such determination. It took all of Gabe’s will power not to start laughing.

“Hon’...Your looking at the wrong spot.”

“But my mommy and daddy said all grown ups have ‘em.” She said with utter seriousness.

Gabe chuckled. “Yes and kids do too-”

“I HAVE EYES ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD?!”

Gabe started cracking up. He couldn’t take it any longer. The way she said it with such shock, such..Horror it was adorable. “No...That’s-Pfft..Hehehe..Only for grown ups..”

“But when will I get eyes on the back of my head?” She asked with a pout propping her chin up on his shoulder having been sitting on the arm of the couch while her grandpa had read the paper infront of her.

“When your 21.” Gabe replied without missing a beat. It probably was a bad idea to keep up the charade but it was funny...And he wanted to see how far she got before she realized it was a hoax.

“Why 21?” She asked blinking.

“Cause then you’ll really need ‘em.”

Rebecca pouted and grabbed a marker and a piece of paper. Gabe blinked as she handed them to him. “What’s this for?”

“My list to Santa. I want you to write it cause I need to focus. Please?” She used the puppy dog face.

“Oh not the eyes-Alright...What’s first?”

“I want eyes on the back of my head! Early!”

“Um...Vincent? What’s your daughter doing?” Graham Freebird asked looking at his ‘cousin’ who sighed his daughter on his shoulders leaning as far back as she could without falling to see if she could spot the invisible ‘eyes’.

“Looking for eyes on the backs of people’s heads.” He replied. It was funny at first..But now it was her obsession.

Before Graham could reply Rebecca asked something.

“Hey Unca Graham? Does your daddy have eyes on the back of his head on his face too?”
A short with next gens galore and next gens of next gens....And something I'm sure every kid has been told once when our folks have caught us.

In all honesty when I was little I believed this...And I was always trying to catch the 'eyes' open until I was around five or so...XD; I was a strange kid...And my folks never tried stopping me either.
