Need for Speed - On Thin Ice

That morning had started off like any other for the sisters.

Elsa was still half asleep trying to finish her breakfast. Anna full of energy ran around the dining room table. “Do you wanna build a snowman? Come on let’s go and play! You eat so slow, come on let’s go! Don’t fall asleep!”

Elsa giggled trying not to roll her eyes. Her sister could be so silly sometimes. “Alright let’s go.” She grinned hopping down sneaking past their parents before getting outside.

“Whoa…” They breathed.

The entire ranch they lived on was covered in a thick blanket of snow, the large pond in the summer they swam in was frozen over.

Anna grinned grabbing her jacket before running outside. “Yahoo!”

“Anna wait!” Elsa called giving chase, again foregoing a jacket as she often did.

They had moved out here a long time ago, when Elsa was still a baby for her health’s sake. She was born a hybrid, part mechanid, part huminid...And when she was very young her health wasn’t the best. But it got easier as she got older. Still they kept out here, to keep both Anna and Elsa safe...As well as their little brother.

They spent the better part of the morning running around, playing, rolling in the snow.

After awhile they came upon the pond. “Come on!” Anna ginned pulling on Elsa’s arm trying to get her to come out onto the ice with her.

Elsa hesitated she could still see the water rippling. “Anna this is a bad idea!” She said trying to pull her back onto the ground.

Anna shook her head and pulled back sliding across the ice. “No it’s not! See?”

Elsa still felt nervous and gave a loud whine stomping her foot a little. “ANNA PLEASE COME BACK HERE NOW!”

“Nope!” She laughed spinning a little. “Look! It’s totally safe!” She motioned for her sibling to come out onto it with her. “Please?”

Elsa shook her head eyes trained on the ice under her sister’s feet. She could see water rippling whenever Anna moved. “It’s too thin….Anna it’s not-”

Her warning died on her lips when they heard it. The sound of ice starting to crack.


Oh no…  She felt her breath catch in her throat.

Anna’s eyes were wide as she looked around her, whimpering a little. “Elsa…!” There was cracks in the ice all leading to her. Water was starting to leak through.

Elsa was shaking like a leaf, she felt tears in her eyes. I need to get mama and papa!

But...If she falls no one will know she’s even there!

She could freeze!

A loud crack caught her attention, as Anna screamed. Everything seemed to slow.

The ice under Anna shattered as the younger girl started to fall through.

Elsa shrieked lunging forward. “ANNA!!!!!!!!!!”

She fell forward on the cracking ice a hand outstretched as energy and ice shot out of nowhere and sealed the cracks, freezing the water Anna was about to fall onto.

When it was over there was a faint thud as Anna collided with the now completely frozen pond. She started to cry.

For Elsa...That sound she had never been more relieved to hear. She quickly got up slipping and sliding over to her pulling her into her arms.

“I got you…” Elsa murmured cradling her sister against her. Anna was fine, the whole thing had just startled her. She sniffled burying her face in her sister’s shirt.

“I’m sorry...I’m sorry! I should’ve listened.”

“I got you...Shhh….It’s okay..It was an accident…” Elsa murmured rocking her a little. Anna calmed down and looked around a look of confusion crossing her face.

“How...Did you fix the pond?”

Elsa looked at her hands and slammed one down as a small pillar of ice came up as she took her hand away. “I...I don’t know…”

Anna looked at what her sister had done and grinned. “Cool!I wanna do it!” She did the same thing as her sister..And pouted as nothing happened. “Aww man!”


Elsa pulled her sister into a tight hug. “Don’t ever scare me like that again!”

Anna hugged her back giving Elsa a little nuzzle. “I won’t...I love you sis…”

She smiled ruffling her hair a little. “I love you too...C’mon let’s head back in.”
